There are many perks of being a student. From the socialising, to the late-nights out drinking, you can't knock it. When you move away you learn to fend for yourself, as well as tackle that much despised budgeting. Money's tight and luxury buys are far and far between. I know, I know, I'm sobbing too! But luckily the adventurous move does allow you develop a new-found habit of searching the market for lust-worthy products at bargain prices.
Recently I've been on the look out for an eyeshadow palette that's both affordable and highly pigmented. Having heard great things about MUA I headed to Superdrug and bought the Smokin' Palette for a mere £6.00. My first impression of the buy was positive, with the palette offering a wide range of metallic colours that, you guessed it, are perfect for creating an alluring smokey eye. From blues, to greens, to purples, there's a hue that will suit everyone.
The application of the shadow is really easy, with the colours being rich in pigment. For a subtle daytime look there's no need for an eyeshadow primer, with their being plenty of neutrals to blend the metallics with - as you can see in the photo above. The shadow says on for a fairly long period and I never received any creases or blemishes on my lids. If you plan on creating a more dramatic look, the kit comes with a free eyeliner called 'Black Smoke'. As expected the eyeliner is jet black and ideal for adding a daring kick to an already bold colour scheme. Perfect for evening attire, mixing the shocking shades with the eyeliner will make sure all eyes are on you! Pardon the pun.
I'd love to know what you think about MUA and their products. This is the first buy I've bought from the brand and so far am really impressed. Leave a comment below on the bits and pieces you've tried out and whether they were worth the money!
